Focus

Size: 18 × 22 in.

Media: Charcoal on watercolor paper

Year: 2021

We often lose track of time staring at objects that capture our interest. Deep focus intensifies the connection between us and the object. This connection is a moment that allows me to notice even the most minute details.

I created “Focus” to motivate others to use their own inner creativity. The large size of the fly and the tiny hairs on its legs reveal the sharpness and precision of our eyes. To others, the minuscule hairs may go unnoticed; however, to the focused man, he recognizes the fly’s essential tools for survival. The ability to derive meaning from even the smallest details emphasizes the boundless power of our brains. The man’s burning focus mirrors my own artistic focus.
