Girl Boss No More (Part 2 of the PAUSE Series)

Size: 17 × 9 in.

Media: Oil on gesso board

Year: 2022

Moving across the country with only my twin sister by my side, I had no choice but to grow up early. I was unable to approach life with a carefree attitude and felt as if I had to take on the role of caretaker for my sister. However, taking a moment to reflect on my life, I realized that sometimes it is okay to forget about expectations and burdens. The floating tasks represent the impermanent nature of life's expectations, thus fueling a revelatory shift to valuing what is truly important to me.

Thus, my painting reiterates my decision to focus on my personal development rather than agonizing over aspects of life that I cannot control. I am no longer the manager of other people’s lives. This piece serves as a reminder for those who feel under pressure to just let go and focus on themselves.
